Domain name isn't correct.

  • Unknown's avatar

My url isn’t right for the blog. It says turnaroundoffical.wordpress.com and it needs to say turnaroundofficial.wordpress.com. There is an “i” missing right now. It is very important that the url is correct because we have the correct url printed in 1,000 copies of our CD for fans to look at the blog. Right now they go to a screen that says that author deleted it. Can you please help us correct the issue?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Unknown's avatar

    turnaroundofficial.wordpress.com is no longer available.

The authors have deleted this site.

Bad news: That site is NEVER coming back. Someone owned and deleted it and it’s staying deleted. Dead sites are never revived at WordPress.com.

  • Unknown's avatar

Ok, but why can’t a change the url now that the url “turnarounbandofficial.wordpress.com” isn’t in use. That makes no sense at all. I am very agitated by wordpress for this because this wasn’t even our mess up.

  • Unknown's avatar

in fact, I am the one that owned that page. So it doesn’t even make sense that I can’t use it. I just needed to switch the names of the blogs and they deleted. There is no way that there can’t be a way to fix that. WordPress needs to step up and fix this.

Also, raincoaster I am not aiming my frustration at you. I know this isn’t your fault, just expressing my displeasure to wordpress.

  • Unknown's avatar

Believe me, I hear this multiple times a day. We had a rash of cyberimpersonations, so they put this in to prevent that.

Someone deleted that URL. Who was it, if not you?

  • Unknown's avatar

Well it was someone from our band, because we had a blog under our name with the correct URL, but it wasn’t working right, and we had all the correct info on the blog with the incorrect URL. So we attempted to just switch the URL names by deleting the blog and renaming the other one, but obviously that didn’t work. I would understand more if it was someone else’s blog site we were trying to reactivate. But it is our own that we had not even 2 hours ago, we just made an oops. We were hoping we could find some way to get it fixed because our new album has the correct url link in the flap of the CD case and we have fans expecting a devotional book on that site. We had it printed on 1,000 copies of the CD. We were hoping to use this site to help minister to the multitudes of people who will get our album because we have wrote blogs explaining the meaning of the songs and the correlation between our songs and the message of Jesus Christ.

There isn’t anyone we can plead our case to? I think we are all willing to own up to the mistake and it was a mess up, but I know that a lot of people are going to be looking for this site, and it has the potential to change lives. I know there are lots of hurting people who will need to read this blog. We would just change it and make a new blog site, which we still can, but with it printed on so many CDs it would be great to be able to use the URL we had.

Why don’t you just buy 1,000 stickers and slap them on the inserts? You wouldn’t be the first or last; I know several people who’ve had to do this. But really, you should blow the $18 a year to get a custom domain first anyway. I don’t generally recommend paid upgrades, but in this case it’s a very good idea. Then you can get WhateverYouWant.com, which is what people will assume your blog is anyway.

  • Unknown's avatar

We may consider the stickers. Right now we already have a couple websites, so we want to avoid getting more websites I think. We were hoping to avoid the mess up with a quick change. Just frustrating that one letter changes everything for us, ya know? We do very much appreciate your help and your times talking to us. We were just hoping we get resolve the URL issue with just a quick fix.

  • Unknown's avatar

Well, I flagged this for staff in case they want to be really kind to you and put in a redirect, but I doubt they will.

  • Unknown's avatar

Thank you very much. We will pray that whatever is supposed to happen, will happen. Again, your help and time is greatly appreciated.

    Hello raincoaster.

My name is Brock and I am the manager of Turnaround. You were talking with someone we have assigned to handle our blogs.

This problem needs to be fixed. What options do we have in making this work?

You mentioned that we could pay to have our own domain. My question is this: if we were to pay this fee to have our own custom domain, would it direct people to the right blog? For example, if the blog we pay to have is “turnaroundofficial.com” would people be directed to this site when they type in “turnaroundofficial.wordpress.com”?

I was reading through the conversation thread and, in my opinion, I must agree that this set-up is not the best. Is there a certain time that this url “turnaroundofficial.wordpress.com” will be available again after a certain amount of time? I’m no rocket scientist, but if the urls that people delete never can be used again, then people will stop using WordPress.com because all the urls desired will eventually have been taken.

I’m just trying to get what the options are for this problem. WordPress is a labeled as a “free service”. Buying 1,000 stickers and then unwrapping all of our inventory to fix a problem that we have created (by deleting the url that we wish to have) just doesn’t seem like very professional advise.

Please let me know what our options are at this point. I am also willing to talk about this via phone if possible. If this is something that you cannot authorize then I understand. If this is the case, I would appreciate it if you would direct me to someone that does.

Thank you very much for your time,
    Brock

    Hi Brock,

I’m sorry, but deleted blogs cannot be restored or reused. Deleting a blog is permanent and the name cannot be used again. There are several warnings about this on the Tools > Delete Site page and in the help pages, and you are required to confirm the deletion by email. More information is here: Delete Site

I understand that this is a difficult position for you, given that you printed your CDs with the deleted blog address. However, unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do in this case — the blog address turnaroundofficial.wordpress.com is permanently gone.

You’re welcome to keep using the address turnaroundoffical.wordpress.com. You could also sign up for a new blog at a new address, or register a custom domain (like turnaroundofficial.com) for your blog. However, there isn’t a way to automatically redirect the traffic from your deleted blog to another one.

I’m sorry I couldn’t do more in this case.

    Hello Rachel!

Thank you for your time. I appreciate your concern.

Right now we already have a couple websites, so we want to avoid getting more websites I think.

I think you should consider consolidating the sites down to one – currently you are diluting your brand in search engines. The larger a site is the better it will search and a larger site will also help your REAL site search better than some other site that has maybe a few Posts about you

    Hello auxclass!

I’m not sure what you mean. Are you saying that you think it would be best to have all of our material on our website to make it more accessible in search engines?

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes all of your material on one site – that is assuming that all your material is related in some way – that also makes taking care of your site easier (only one) and when someone visits your site it is easier to see related content and visit it

Depending on what you are doing with your site(s) you might be able to drive the whole site with “WordPress” either .ORG or .COM
