domain name issue

    Once i have bought a domain name via wordpress.com can i decouple it from the site and then reuse it on a separate wordpress run site on my own server? How can i do that – thanks!

    You have two options:

    1. You can leave the domain registered with WordPress.com and change the name servers so it points to your self-hosted site.

    2. You can transfer your purchased domain to another registrar (such as your new host, if they also provide domain registrar services).

    Note that number 2 is only an option if it’s been at least 60 days since your registered your domain with WordPress.com. If it hasn’t, you can still change the name servers to point to your new host.
