Hello,
Could someone please help me with this? I received an email from the owner of website that has similar name with my blog name asking me to change my blog name. What should I do? What are my rights? Am I protected from wordpress from being sued or not?

This is not a copyright issue. You are not required to change your .wordpress.com blog URL or your blog name except in the case of another person proving to you that they actually own a registered trademark and that’s not what’s happening here. http://automattic.com/trademark-policy/ In this case no one can own a registered trademark for http://mywanderingspoon.wordpress.com/ so you can choose not to change the URL or the site title if you do not wish to.

Website owner told me in her email she registered her site in US for culinary communications and online publishing under wanderingspoon name. I can see how our site names are almost identical and can cause some confusion with users when doing a search but still different enough to easily figure out which one is which. What if I or someone else decide to create website with .org with the same exact name as theirs? It’s available for anybody to claim. I’m confused. Could you please advise if this would create additional issues?

@TT is better than I on this – but some companies are bullies etc. – part of the issue goes to intent – are you trying to imitate or pass yourself off as the other site? If you are not they don’t have as good a case
there are several variations of my URL – can’t ever remember ever hearing from one of the other sites – one person did leave a comment on my boat name – same name and same reason (but they did not have a web site I think) – so most sites are live and let live as long as you don’t try and pass yourself off as them
please note – I am not a lawyer and I did not stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night
good luck with your site – I passed it on to a friend that just found out they have a Gluten problem
