Domain Name Lapse

  I purchased a domain name for my blog was part of the WordPress.com Premium plan. Since purchasing the premium plan and the domain name I have moved my blog to a self hosting website but I was unable to renew my domain because it was still registered with wordpress.com. I contacted Wild West Domains because they are listed as the registrar on WHOIS but they stated that I would have to wait for the domain to be released back to them before I could purchase it and would need to go through wordpress.com before that time. Is there a way to renew my domain without having to purchase the premium plan and then have it transferred to my hosts registrar?

  Are you still able to access the WordPress.com account which is associated with your purchase of the Premium plan and domain? As far as I see your past thread here, I guess it’s possible that you can access the account and make changes to the domain. If so, you should be able to transfer the domain to another registrar.

  I am still able to access the WordPress.com account, however the domain is not listed there any longer. Thanks for flagging it for the staffs!

  Hi crumbsandglamour,

  crumbsandglamour.com expired on 2017-05-11 and is currently in the redemption period:

  Recover an Expired or Cancelled Domain

  We can still try to recover the domain but you will need to pay an $80 redemption fee in addition to the $18 domain renewal cost. If you agree to these costs I can send you a payment request and start the recovery process once it has been paid.

  The other option is to wait until the domain has been released — but there is no guarantee you will be the first to register it again and the process can take 80 days or more. This is the riskier option out of the two.

  If we are able to recover the domain, it can be transferred to another registrar.

  Please let me know which option you would prefer.
