Domain name lapsed can I renew

    Dear WordPress.com,

    I run a small nonprofit organisation and forgot to select auto renew for the domain name and it appears to have lapsed as the renewals ended up in my spam folder.

    Is there any possibility I can renew this domain?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi ,
    If your domain is banduckshooting.com , then we just checked it expired on 01/17/2017 .

    Your domain is in Redemption period. You will probably have to pay an additional charge to register the domain with you again. The charge usually depends on the service providers. You could check with your service provider directly or we can check , one of our happiness engineer would provide you details of the charges in order to get it re registered with you.
    Also the other option is chances are your domain would be available after the redemption period which is usually 30 to 60 days then you can purchase it on a normal price if there are no other buyers.

    Thanks Pav,

    The domain was registered through WordPress.com and when I typed it in to buy it comes my up as unavailable. I can’t see any option to renenew in my dashboard. Can you help?

    Hi ,
    Please be patient , someone from the WordPress will revert you back , as your domain is in redemption period you are not able to get access to renew it. Someone from the Staff will revert will revert back soon.

    Hi there,

    That domain has already been removed from our system and is currently in redemption with our registrar. It is still possible for me to recover the domain at this point, but our registrar charges a $80 fee to restore a domain from redemption. I’ll need you to agree to that fee before I can get the recovery process started.

    Otherwise the only option is to wait for the redemption phase to run its course and hope no one else buys it the moment it becomes available.

    I’ve sent you a payment link via email. Once we receive your payment I can email our registrar to restore the domain. Should the recovery fail, your payment will be refunded in full.

    Thanks Kokkieh, I’ve made the payment now. Is there anything I need to do from my end to make the website live again, or will it restore automatically? Many thanks again

    Thanks for letting me know. I’ve emailed our registrar to ask them to restore the domain. Once they restore it, your site should come online immediately, though with self-hosted sites you sometimes need to reconnect it on your hosting provider’s end as well. I’ll let you know once the domain is restored.

    Our registrar don’t usually reply to these requests over the weekend, but the domain should be back by Monday or Tuesday.
