Domain Name Lost?
-
Hello,
I recently received a request to use “laserwolf” as a domain name, so since I don’t really use this blog anymore, I decided to change the name and give it to my friend. I changed the name successfully, but I clicked the option to “permanently delete this domain name” or something while changing names. I thought I needed to do this in order to delete it from my account, but now it seems like the laserwolf domain name is unavailable for use. Is there any way I can simply get the name back and then transfer the whole blog to him? I see that that is an option but did not try that first. Let me know if this is possible, thank you!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It sounds like you will need Staff help with this. I will flag this thread for Staff attention. Do be aware that they will need to know what the exact domain name in question is.

That would be great, thank you. The domain name was simply my username, laserwolf, and then .wordpress.com, until I changed it.

Oh so we aren’t talking about a domain at all. We are talking about a wordpress.com sub-domain transfer of http://laserwolf.wordpress.com to another wordpress.com username account. Have you followed these instructions or not? http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

Hello again,
I did not follow that process and I think that I should have done that instead. I followed the procedure for changing the name of the blog from laserwolf.wordpress.com to mitadventures.wordpress.com, thinking that this would free up the sub-domain name “laserwolf” for this person, but now I think that the name is just frozen (I tried making a new blog with the laserwolf name shortly afterward and it says that the name is taken). I followed these instructions (http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/) and selected the option to “Discard Current Address”. Let me know if that makes sense, thank you! -
Oh no! You deleted http://laserwolf.wordpress.com despite the 3 warnings that said deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed. Once a URL id deleted here it’s gone forever. There is no recycling.

Wow, I did not realize that…I thought maybe there was some way to reverse it so that I could just transfer the blog to him directly follow the instructions that you gave earlier. If there really isn’t anything I can do to reverse it then I really messed up…thank you for the info.
