Domain name mapping

  • Unknown's avatar

First off I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing so please explain as thoroughly as you can so I understand as the help page was too complicated.

I have purchased a domain from a local domain site here in Greece and now I want to create a website using this domain. I received an e-mail from them saying that I have to wait 5-7 days for approval but I have a time issue and was wondering if it’s possible to either ”map” this domain to my wordpress before approval or else at least begin working on my website and then create the actual domain later? (if that makes sense)
I ask because I need to have something created before Sunday but don’t want to start working on everything only to have to start again once domain name comes through. Is it possible for me to start working on site without premium membership and then upgrade it as I go along when I get approval?

    Thank you!

    Hey mslorenz,

welcome to WordPress.com, lets get you sorted.

As your domain name isn’t yet active you wont be able to map your WordPress.com site to it.

You can however, work on your WordPress.com site and get it to the standard you want. Then as soon as your domain name is ready, you can map it with just a few clicks.

when your domain name is ready here is a guide on how to map it:

    Something to be aware of…

You will need to be signed up to either the personal, Premium or the business plan to gain access to a custom domain name mapping. You can view the plans here:

hopefully this help you. If you have anymore questions or need any help, drop me a message here.
    Cheers,
    LJ
