Domain name mistake
-
I’ve owned a domain name through godaddy.com for years and had it transfer automatically to my free wordpress.com home page. I completely messed that up this morning by claiming a free WordPress domain name. Now, I can’t seem to remove the transfer when I type my domain name – it goes to this blank page for a domain name which I no longer even want. Help!

I see a few domains that were on your account.
Which is the domain name, and what WordPress.com site did you want it attached to?

The domain name I own is http://www.grailrunner.com. I’m trying to correct things such that typing that URL re-directs automatically back to grailrunner.wordpress.com.
Things are the same on the godaddy.com end, but whatever I did with WordPress screwed things up. Totally my fault. Just not sure how to fix it. -
It looks like you mapped that domain, but then canceled the domain mapping.
You can map it again by following the guide at https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/

I appreciate your quick responses. I believe I’ve completed all the steps. I had the guy at godaddy.com update the name servers like the instructions said. He said there was a 24-48 hr cycle for updating.
I noticed that this morning, the URL correctly re-directs on my iPhone but that it doesn’t work correctly on my computer. I’m assuming that’s a waiting game then, and not something I missed?

Yes, domain nameserver changes can take anywhere from a few hours to 48 hours or more to fully propagate across the internet. You might want to clear your browser cache, but ultimately you’ll need to wait for that propagation to fully complete.
I hope that clarifies things!
