domain name not working, name servers?

Dear all,
Yesterday I disgined a new WordPress blog:
okiwig.wordpress.comI would to link it to my own domain http://www.okiwig.nl, but unfortunately it doesn’t work at the moment. I contact the domain service and they argue that all settings are correct, including the forward and the right name servers of wordpress (n1,n2,n3.wordpress.com). Yesterday it worked and I didn’t changed anything, so I am wondering what could be the issue at the moment.

If you are trying to forward the domain you can have issues with forward and mask – and support is not provided for forward & mask – only domain mapping
Much better to domain map your name – it does not look like you purchased the domain mapping $13.-/yr US

So to conclude: you DO need to pay the domain mapping to use your own external hosted link, otherwise in any case it won’t work.

yes domain mapping is not free
If you domain forward, someone that already has the domain name can get to your site – but the name does not seem to ever build up any search engine “juice” making it hard for anyone to see your custom domain name and also your brand identity suffers (none as best I can tell) – search engines will index based on your base site name – – also if you mask the site nobody can send a link to a specific article on your web site since the true URL is always hidden
