Domain name not yet available

  I registered a domain (f3jax.com) with GoDaddy earlier today, not realizing that domain registration is included in the paid WP packages. When I realized my mistake, I canceled the domain with GoDaddy and received a refund, but WP is still saying the domain is in use.

  How long does it usually take for ICANN to re-release a domain name in circumstances like this and for WP to recognize it as available?

  Hello!

  I would attempt to contact GoDaddy, and see if they can restore the domain. You can keep your domain at GoDaddy, and ‘map’ the domain to your WordPress.com.. the mapping fee is included with any paid WordPress.com plan.

  Otherwise, it could take some time to become available again.

  I canceled the domain with GoDaddy and received a refund, but WP is still saying the domain is in use.

  Once a domain has been cancelled, it can take a few days for it to become available again. If you are concerned I’d recommend contacting GoDaddy — they should be able to you a better idea of when it will be released.
