domain name problem

hello,
i’d like to link my domain name http://www.lifewithilona.nl to my wordpressblog, which is http://www.lifewithilonadotcom.wordpress.com but i can’t find how to do this. Could someone help me out please? :) I’ve already changed the nameserver but this doesn’t seem to work.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi lifewithilona,

I did a whois lookup on your domain name using https://www.sidn.nl/nc/en/about-nl/whois/

It shows me your name servers as being

ns1.worpress.com
ns4.wordpress.com
ns5.wordpress.com
ns6.wordpress.com
ns2.wordpress.com
ns3.wordpress.com

There is a typo in the ns1 server it should be ns1.wordpress.com

Also you should only need ns1 to ns3

Have you added the domain mapping upgrade to your account already as well?

Once the name servers are set properly they can sometimes take from 24-72 hours for the changes effect across the internet. But if you fix that up it should get things working for you.

Hi, thanks for your answer!

I changed the ns1-thingy so that should work now.
But I didn’t add my domain name to the domain mapping upgrade.
I tried but it keeps saying i need to pay for it. However I already bought the domain name from hostnet.
Do I still have to pay?

Hi lifewithilona,

It does look like the name servers are all in correct now.

You do however need to purchase the domain mapping from WordPress.com as well to have it work. It is an add-on to the main service of having the site.

Registering the domain and pointing it is the first part, but you also need to have WordPress.com setup to know about and direct that domain to your site.
