domain name problem
-
Last year I had a website on domain ‘reiskronieken.com’, which is about my travels in the Dutch language.
Last month this domain expired but I forgot to renew.
Now I renewed the domain name and paid a fine, in total 106 Euro.I’m really stuck now, I don’t know what to do. Everything was working fine until this morning.
When I enter the website in the adressarea ‘www.reiskronieken.com’, it’s not found.
However, when I enter ‘www.voetstappenin.com’ (the websitename/domain before reiskronieken), then I got redirected to what I want: ‘www.reiskronieken.com’
Can someone help me out?

I checked your blog, and looks as if there has been a mix up.
The link to the blog that you’ve mentioned here – reiskronieken.wordpress.com points to reiskronieken.net.
However, the domain reiskronieken.com also points to a WordPress.blog (a different one) – the same link to which ”www.voetstappenin.com’ also directs to.
(Btw reiskronieken.com is loading fine for me.)
What I can understand from this is:
1) The domain you bought today was ‘reiskronieken.net’. I checked the date of registration, and the domain was registered today. Besides, your WordPress.com URL points to this domain.
2) The domain ‘reiskronieken.com’ points to a different WordPress.com blog. I checked the registration details of reiskronieken.com and it looks like the domain expires only on 23rd November (not sure but according to the records you’ve renewed it last month itself – correct?). This URL (as well as ‘www.voetstappenin.com’) – to a different WordPress.com blog – and not the one you’d want to point to.
Can you confirm that the scenario I’ve pointed out is correct? If so, I think you might need WordPress.com staff assistance to correct the issue without much hassle (i.e. to point reiskronieken.com to your primary blog).
– Hari.
P.S. I’ve requested staff assistance for this thread anyway.

Hi Hari,
Thank you for your detailed explanation. To answer your scenario: You are absolutely right. Your scenario is correct.
Something went terribly wrong. I knew everything was mixed and messed up and did it myself. But I diddn’t know how to correct eveything.
The aim is to work further on ‘reiskronieken.com’. I hope WordPress can help me out. Thank you for requesting WP assistance.
Do I need to contact them? Or will they contact me?
Thanks in advance, I will let you know!
Erik

Hello @reiskronieken (and @harishankerr)
Sorry for the frustration!
So I understand, so you want all three of these domains:
reiskronieken.com
reiskronieken.net
voetstappenin.comTo all point to the site WordPress.com site which resides at
reiskronieken.wordpress.com
Is that accurate?

Hello Bruce,
Thanks for answering!
Oh there is no frustration from my side, I just messed the whole thing up by myself.
So this is the situation:
First I started with ‘voetstappenin.wordpress.com’
Then last year changed into ‘reiskronieken.wordpress.com’ with the upgrade to ‘reiskronieken.com’‘reiskronieken.com’ expired just short ago, and I was to late to renew. So I paid a fine, but nothing happened. So I bought a new domain: ‘reiskronieken.net’
When I enter ‘reiskronieken.wordpress.com’ in the adressarea, my blog appears, but with ‘www.reiskronieken.net’ as adress.
‘voetstappenin.com’ is not working (and that is ok)
‘reiskronieken.com’ is also not working (and that is the problem). So the newly bought domain (.net) is working,
but I would rather have the old adress back again and cancel the .net adress if the old one is going to work again:
Which means ‘reiskronieken.wordpress.com’ with the upgrade to ‘www.reiskronieken.com’
I hope you can help me out! I’m not frustrated, I just made a weird change in my settings this morning, and now it’s a complicated mess…
