Domain name query

I’ve read through FAQ and other threads but I’m still in the dark re. transferring domain names.
I currently own http://www.songsfromthehowlingsea.com which is hosted by justhost with a wordpress.org template.

I wish to switch my old blog to wordpress.com and have now transferred all the content, final step is moving my domain name across.

As I understand it domain mapping would redirect the address to my new blog but I would still be paying justhost?
On the other hand I can’t just buy the domain name though wordpress as it’s unavailable (I already own it)
What steps do i take to remove my domain name from justhost and have it all paid for via wordpress.com?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Unfortunately domain name registration cannot be “transferred” over to wordpress.COM, so you will either have to keep it through justhost, or you will have to transfer it to a different registrar.

You would then change the DNS nameservers to the wordpress.com nameservers and within 24-72 hours the propagation would be complete although it is typically under 24 hours.

OK so if instead I just I point the domain I already own to my WordPress.com using the domain mapping guide do i still have to pay justhost for hosting my wordpress.org site even if i delete it. Or am i getting ‘owning domain’ and ‘paying for hosting’ mixed up?

Sorry I hope I’m being clear?

Justhost says upon cancellation with them i can take my EEPP code from them and then I can transfer it anywhere I want. On WordPress.com, you can register a custom domain – which i thought to be the same thing. am i misunderstanding something?
    thanks

Ok so I think I’m actually beginning to answer my own question:

I leave the domain name with justhost and map it to wordpress.com. The cost of this isn’t as great as having my wordpress.org site as justhost isn’t actually hosting a site it’s just holding my domain name. Therefore with the reduced cost plus the wordpress.com cost of having my own address I save money..
    Is this correct?

    Yes, that’s correct.
