  Do I have to buy an annual plan on WordPress to just get a domain name and remove the WordPress.com?

  I’m new to blogging and reluctant to spend as I don’t even know if I’ll be able to generate any money from my blog. I noticed I couldn’t add a Pinterest plugin as I didn’t have my own domain and I’ve been told companies need to see your DA.

  Any thoughts?

  Yes you need to at least upgrade to the Personal plan at $35.88 per year to get a custom domain name. https://wordpress.com/pricing/ But you really need the more expensive Premium or Business plans to be able to monetize your site from the get-go. Your own plugins are only available using the Business plan but you don’t need a plugin to add a Pinterest button which you can do even with a free site.

  Thanks – I think that’s what I’d understood anyway. I’ve got the Pinterest icon. It’s the plugin so you can pin images direct to Pinterest from my blog that I can’t get
