Domain Name Question
-
Currently, all my podcasts and email reside on 1and1.com. They are under the domain name xyz.com. I was under the impression that I could name the wordpress site that without having to move my content or lose my email addresses. Is that true? My podcasts are linked to iTunes and people access them through an RSS feed. I don’t want to break the chain, or even risk breaking it. I also own the domain name xyz.net– under 1and1, as well, but with no content. I just have the domain name. My preference is is to use the .com address and make the wordpress site the place my audience really sees when they type in the web address. But, technically, wordpress would really only be the skin, since the domain, email, and multimedia content would still reside on 1 and 1. Can I do this?
Historically… I also created an iWeb website early on for “xyz” using xyz.com. 1and1 seems to still redirect to that still (much to my chagrin), so I think it is possible, but my IT guy (for my real job) is adamant that is an incorrect assumption and I will have to use .net.
Will wordpress work for me? Thanks for the help.
Best regards.
