Domain name re-upped but page says it's still expired
-
Our domain name expired a few days ago and we let it lapse for about a week. I was able to re-up it five days ago, but our site still isn’t working–when you visit you get a message saying it’s expired. Here is the URL: https://momsclubnela.org
Any ideas for how I can get our page to show up again?
TIA!

Hi Tia,
momsclubnela.org expired on 2017-03-03 and wasn’t set to auto renew — which is why it didn’t renew even though you added a new card to your account.
The domain is now in the redemption period:
The good news is that you can still try to recover your domain as it has not yet been deleted, purchased by someone else at auction or sold on back-order. A late renewal fee of $80 will be added to the regular domain renewal cost ($18) and private registration fee ($8).
If you agree to these costs I can generate a payment request for the amount. Once that has been paid, we can start the process of trying to get your domain back. Should the recovery fail after you’ve paid the redemption fee, that fee is refunded in full.
If you do not want to pay the fee, you can wait until the domain is released but you may not be able to get it back if it is purchased at auction during this time.
Please let me know what you would like to do and if you have any questions.
Thanks!

Hi, Gemma! I think something went wonky when I tried to re-up. It somehow relinked to an old, unused domain: http://www.momsclubeaglerockhighlandpark.org. It was using that URL for days. We don’t use it and don’t need it. Is there a way to disable that and be reimbursed? And possibly remove it from auto-connecting on our page. I distinctly remember trying to do the momsclubnela.org URL and it seemed to have a mind of its own (something I didn’t realize until days later–after I posted this).

Hi Tia,
It somehow relinked to an old, unused domain: http://www.momsclubeaglerockhighlandpark.org.
momsclubeaglerockhighlandpark.org is currently set as your primary domain. You can change the primary domain to momsclubnela.org using these instructions:
Is there a way to disable that and be reimbursed?
The domain can be cancelled from your Manage Purchases page here:
https://wordpress.com/me/purchases
Just so you are aware, once a domain has been cancelled there is no guarantee you’ll be able to get it back. So only cancel the domain if you’re sure you won’t need it again.
Come back to me if you have any questions!

I’m fine with not getting it back, but I’d like to be reimbursed for the domain. I’m a volunteer and I have no idea how this particular domain was renewed with my credit card. I don’t care that we’ll lose the domain ; I just need my money back for this. Is that possible?

Also, why is it that the URL we actually use: MOMSCLUBNELA.org is only renewed for 9 months? It’s up for renewal in January 2018. Doesn’t seem right since it was renewed in March of 2017. Why is that not a 365 day renewal. And why is there no phone number to reach you guys on? I’m quite tempted to move to SquareSpace, this is such a pain.
All I want: 1. MY MONEY BACK for Momsclubeaglerockhighlandpark.org and that domain cancelled for all eternity because it never should have been made in the first place.
2. Momsclubnela.org to be effective until March 2018 because it’s ridiculous that it only renews for 9 months.

Hi there,
I’m fine with not getting it back, but I’d like to be reimbursed for the domain.
Thanks for confirming. I’ve cancelled momsclubeaglerockhighlandpark.org for you and refunded the domain costs ($26). Refunds usually take about a week to process and show up on your statement. You can view, print or email yourself a copy of the refund receipt from your Billing History here:
https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing
2. Momsclubnela.org to be effective until March 2018 because it’s ridiculous that it only renews for 9 months.
Momsclubnela.org was renewed in March this year and isn’t due for renewal again until 2018-03-03. Your Manage Purchases page shows the domain is due to renewal on 2018-02-01 — we take payment 30 days in advance of the renewal date so there is enough time to sort out any issues which could result in the loss of a domain.
Let me know if you need anything else :)
