Domain Name Recovery? (merged)

  Hi there,

  I deleted my website and domain name as I’m hosting my wordpress website at a different place now. I didn’t realize that deleting my domain name wouldn’t release it immediately, and I’d like to use it for my website. What is the best way to get my domain name onto my new website? Will it become available after a certain number of days? Should I ask if it can be recovered and somehow transfer it over? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  Hi, canceled domains don’t get freed up unless they’re only a few days old. They go to the registrar instead for this long domain redemption process. But since you only recently canceled it, I was able to recover it for you.

  I’d recommend pointing it to your new host first:
  https://wordpress.com/support/domains/change-name-servers/

  Then, here’s how to transfer the registration. It just takes a while:
  https://wordpress.com/support/domains/transfer-domain-registration/

  I also noticed you canceled your email. Is that intentional?

  Hi there,

  I made a dumb mistake; I deleted my website along with my domain name as I’m hosting my wordpress site on a different website now instead of wordpress.com. I assumed that my domain name would become publicly available immediately after deleting it, but it seems that was wrong. Is there any way to recover my domain name since I deleted it within an hour ago, so that I can instead transfer it to the new website?

  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

  Hi Supernovia,

  Thank you so much for recovering my domain name! I’m going to be more cautious before deleting things in the future… Thanks as well for the information on how to transfer over a domain name.

  I cancelled my email along with everything else as I noted that it was set to begin charging my card in August, and I plan on using a different email service going forward.
