Domain name, Referencement, Google
-
Hi,
My blog is currently well referenced on Google. I would like to add a domain name to our blog (using WordPress upgrade). I was wondering if a new domain name will impact the referencement on Google. Is the former wordpress domain name will be still available on Google? My concern is, I dont want to alter the current referencement on Google (which is quiet good) by adding a new domain name.
Can you please avise?
Thank you so much.

All existing links to the old URLs will be 301 redirected to your new domain name, and probably within 3-6 months all your search engine ranking will transfer over to the new domain name and all the URLs to the old blog will disappear.
The new domain for a while will have zero page rank, so anything new posted on that domain will start out in the basement until the page rank from the old URL completely transfers over to the new.
Generally figure on 3-6 months.
