Domain name registration for an existing WordPress site

  Is it possible to register a new domain name through WordPress or do I need to register the domain name elsewhere (like with GoDaddy or HostGator) and then move that URL to WordPress?

  Just adding to the reply above, this depends on the specific domain, but as long as you want a domain extension that we’re accredited for, you can register the domain directly with us.

  Additionally, if you upgrade to the Pro plan one domain is included for free for the first year, and you’ll only start paying for the domain once it renews next year.
