Domain Name Registration Question
-
Hi there –
I have a registered domain name with BlueHost and it’s mapped to my wordpress.com site. My registration with BlueHost is going to expire in April, and I would really like to just have it registered through WordPress instead.
Do you think I can let it expire on BlueHost and then buy the same domain name again through a WordPress.com upgrade?
Hope this question makes sense, and thanks in advance!

I would strongly recommend that you do not allow your domain to expire, as it will take a while for your registrar to release it, and in the meantime others can bid on the domain and register it before it gets released. Even if you think no one else might be interested in the domain, you’d be surprised at how often domains are lost after they expire.
Since we do not accept incoming domain transfers, your best bet is to keep it at BlueHost, or transfer it to a different registrar, and map the domain to WordPress.com:
