domain name renewal issue

  My old hosting company, Hostway says my domain name is about to expire. I paid $13 to WordPress in december to have my domain name there. It’s set to renew in November. Hostway is warning me that my domain name is about to expire on 2/4/13 and according to them, public records show that my domain name is registered with them, not WordPress.

  What am I paying WordPress $13 for then?

  I do not want to lose my domain name, nor do I ant to pay two companies for renewing it.

  This is an urgent matter. Thank you for your help!

  Hi there,

  Hostway is the company that registers your domain. They are right that your domain is about to expire. If you want to keep it you should renew it with them.

  The $13 you paid was for the Domain Mapping Upgrade. This upgrade doesn’t register your domain, it’s what maps your domain to your WordPress.com site so people see your blog when they go to your purchased domain.
