domain name renewal waiver & email transfer from DECEASED RELATIVE
-
So I’m still having issues with this account even after getting a document notarized to transfer this account from my dead uncle to me.
I wasn’t able to renew the domain because I had to get this silly document notarized. The only way I will be renewing this domain with wordpress, is if I can have that fee waived, otherwise I’ll wait and do it with another provider.
And I sent an email support request but it’s going to my dead uncle’s email….so guess what nobody is going to get it.
…but I can’t change the email without accessing the dead guy’s email? Come on guys help me out here…
WP.com: Yes
Jetpack: No
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I did not see you mention it in your message, but to clarify, you are trying to renew innovativehype.com yes? I see that it expired some time ago and it would not be possible to update the contact email for the domain at this late stage.
You wish to recover innovativehype.com and restore it to active status under this account? Or are you referring to another domain instead. Thanks for confirming.

Yes I want innovativehype.com. That’s the whole reason why I got his account transferred to mine.
But I shouldn’t have to pay the late renewal fee because it took me months just to get access and then it was too late.
And that email that’s on it goes to a dead end. No one has access to that account anymore since my uncle died.

Hi @micahpeoples, I’m sorry for your loss and all of the work you’re having to deal with because of it.
I wish I could do more. But within a few days of expiration, we no longer have control from our side. The redemption fee and the process it goes through are all handled by the registrar and registry rules. I’d recommend reading that document so you understand the process, but regardless, I’d recommend renewing with the fee ASAP.
Each day you leave the domain in redemption is risky. If it’s bought up at a registrar auction or from a backorder service, then it’s just gone. Once you renew, if you decide to transfer to another provider, I understand and we can help you sort that out along with any remaining ownership issues. It just needs to be redeemed first. I hope this helps!

This has been a terrible process. I have no interest in using wordpress any longer. I refuse to pay the $80 fee. You all did not help me. :/
-
Can you at least change the email associated with the account? to (email visible only to moderators and staff)? geez.
-
Also, I need to know when it gets released. The document didn’t help with my specific case at all.
-
The email address for the account can only be changed from this location, by the owner such as yourself: https://wordpress.com/me/account
Once you are on that page you can change it to “(email visible only to moderators and staff)” by following this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/email-address/

It’s not that hard to actually read what I wrote. So let me explain it to you like you’re 5. I. Can. Not. Update. It. See image.

Like I said, that email address, that you have to confirm it on, is owned by a dead person…
What else can I say to make it clear to you???
You guise are not helpful at all :

Hi there, thanks for the screenshot. It may be the case that the previous owner had a pending email change that they did not complete, hence the notification.
However, if you click the “Cancel” link at the far right (in the message in your screenshot) this will cancel the change, and allow you to instead add any email address you prefer to use instead.
Please note that the gmail address you provided is already in use on another WordPress.com account, so it will not be possible to use it as the email address for the @micahpeoples account.
With this in mind you may need to use a different email address (one that is not taken already in our system) or alternatively you can log in as your other WordPress.com login, and change the address there first. That will free up the address to be used for this account instead.
Let us know how you would like to proceed or if you have any questions.
