I need to change my domain from hollybarry1191.wordpress.com to Fireflicker.wordpress.com because I want my domain name to match my blog name. It’s telling me it’s “reserved”. I HAVE IT don’t I??? Help!!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When we register a username account the matching blog is reserved for our future use. It cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username account.

The username account https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/fireflicker was registered March 3, 2009 (4 years)

There is no time limit on this at all. There is no expiration date on reserved blogs or on registered blogs that are unused.

If you own the username account https://en.forums.wordpress.com
then you can log in as Admin under that account and register the blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/ If you don’t own that username account then you cannot register the reserved blog.

If you do own that https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/fireflicker username account but have lost your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
and if required click the “Need More Help” link and complete the form for account recovery.

How do I know if I really and truly OWN it. I mean, it’s my blog’s name. Aren’t I the only one then that has that name?

Blog names are not unique. It’s URLs that are unique.

How do I know if I really and truly OWN it.

Use the lost password and account recovery link I posted above.

Because also when I go to the www:fireflicker.wordpress.com address it says it doesn’t exist.

Yes indeed I did get that.

I also told you that if and only if you own this username account https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/fireflicker and you log in under it then you can register the blog.

I then told you what to do if you have lost the login information for that https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/fireflicker username account to recover the account so you can log in as Admin under it and register the blog.

    Is that clear now?

That doesn’t work either. So help. How do I tell people that I know to go to WordPress.com and find me. Tell them to just “search”? My URL sucks! ;D

I don’t know what you think does not work. I do know what works as I have answered questions here for over 7 years.

If and only if you own this username account https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/fireflicker and you log in under it then you can register the matching blog http://fireflicker.wordpress.com

If you do not own that fireflicker username account then you have three other choices:
    1. Register another blog with a different URL http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

    2. Change the address of the blog you own now at http://hollybarry1191.wordpress.com/ to another available .wordpress.com URL by using this process http://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

    3. Purchase a domain of your own via domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com blog URL is.

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

How do I tell people that I know to go to WordPress.com and find me.

Email this URL to them http://hollybarry1191.wordpress.com/ and they can put it into the top browser bar and click to find the blog.

    Tell them to just “search”?

Note your blogs is new and has next to no content. It takes weeks for search engines to index content so your posts not pages appear in Google search results.

What attracts search engines is unique content the cannot in posts that cannot be found anywhere else on the internet. Start now publishing original content posts frequently two or even three times weekly. For more information read > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/01/21/omg-i-cant-find-my-blog-on-google/

The process we use for verifying free hosted WordPress.com blogs with search engines is found here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

Note: Even if you do not verify the blog the content will be indexed by search engines so don’t feel panicky about this please.

WordPress.com provides the search engines with site maps. We bloggers do nothing. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sitemaps/

Lastly note that we cannot assist with search engine issues. They are between the blogger and the search engine. http://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/

    My URL sucks! ;D

I just made a HUGE time investment in explaining what to do about that and id so more than once. Please act on my information as there are other bloggers waiting for help and I must go now.
