Domain Name Server Mgmt

Hey, I have a domain that was registered at WordPress but is now registerd with another registrar but it says that it’s using WordPress DNS. Not sure how this happened but since my domain is no longer at WordPress how do I change the A record since those settings are no longer available through the control panel. I can’t find it anywhere and I have looked everywhere. The domain is Trovatollc.com.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Since ImpactWorks is the registrar, you’ll use their domain management at this time to manage the DNS. Ask them how to reset the name servers to something else. It sounds like these simply weren’t changed before the transfer.

That’s what I suspected, however, the client is using G Suite for email etc and already has a bunch of settings in there and I really didn’t want to get into setting all that up on my end by hosting the DNS. Just need to change the IP address. *sigh*

Is there someone I could get to change that IP address for me? Was looking for a live chat or something…

  • The problem here is that WordPress.com doesn’t have any management of that anymore at all, since the domain isn’t pointed here. The site says “Website Designed and Powered by ImpactWorks” which means it’s not hosted at WordPress.com despite the name servers. Those are probably just residual settings that were never changed.

To change the IP to a new A record, you’d need to edit the domain settings at the registrar. The record to G Suite is in the MX records, so likely of no concern here.

Live chat at WordPress.com would be for sites with a paid plan on these servers, which it seems like that site no longer has.
