Domain name servers

I switched over to wordpress.org but my domain I bought through wordpress.com is not pointing to my Hostgator domain servers. I’m trying to get this corrected immediately.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It looks like you have this sorted out because the site listed in your post is being served up by Hostgator servers.

If you’re referring to another site, see this support page for instructions on how to move your domain: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/move-domain/

The issue is that my domain was registered with WordPress and they purchased it through wild west domain. My domain expired and I wasn’t contacted by either to tell me I need to pay for extending my domain registration. I’m trying to recover my domain by today and make payment for it. I’m losing money by having my website down so I need this completed asap.

  • Hi there,

What is the domain, please? The account you’re using to post here has never owned a domain on WordPress.com.

The domain, contentengagementconversions.co, is not registered with WordPress.com.

The domain that was registered with wordpress.com is entrepreneurialambitions.com.

Not sure why how my other site got connected with this platform.

  • The username yurabryant does not own any domains on WordPress.com.

entrepreneurialambitions.com is owned by entrepreneurialambitions, so I need you to please confirm as that username if I should try to recover the domain for you.

Also note that as the domain is over 40 days expired it might already be in redemption with our registrar, in which case they’ll charge an additional $80 fee before they will restore it. I’ll only know this once I contact them to request they restore the domain.

You can try that but I used yurabryant for wordpress.com until I switched over to wordpress.org and hostgator, which it was changed to admin.

And that $80 fee is kind of ridiculous if I wasn’t even contacted about the expiring domain. But I’ll wait to see what needs to occur once you contact them

  • You are still replying as the yurabryant account, which is not the owner of the domain.

The owner of the domain is the account, entrepreneurialambitions, and I can only restore the domain at that user’s request.

We sent several emails between 23 February and 25 April, when the domain expired, to the email address for that WordPress.com account, and another email was sent to the gmail address in the contact information for the domain. If you did not receive these emails you need to take it up with your email providers, but we did send them.

The domain lay expired on your account for 42 days after that before it was removed from our account. If it now goes into redemption at our registrar we need to pay them a $80 fee to get it back. That is how domain expiration works. But it might not be in redemption yet. I’ll only know once I contact the registrar, and I can only do that once you confirm via the correct account and pay for the domain’s renewal.

I see it was mixed in with my updates at my (email visible only to moderators and staff) email.

I changed to my other account.

  • Perfect, thank you. I’ve emailed our registrar to restore the domain. I’ll let you know as soon as I get an answer from them.

Until the domain is restored that email address won’t work, so can you please update the email in your account settings to an email that’s currently working? Then I can send a link for the renewal payment to that email address:

    https://wordpress.com/me/account/

  • Your domain has been restored and is back on your account. Your site and your email should be working soon. If your email doesn’t come back online, please ask Hostgator to check that the MX records are still set correctly.

I’ve sent a link for the renewal payment to you via email.

Can you resend the payment link? I have not received it.
