Domain Name Setup – Help
-
First time posting here so hopefully this is the right place, if not, my apologies.
So, noob question….
I recently setup a new domain & hosting. When i installed wordpress through cpanel it assigned the suffix “wp” to the end of my domain name. i.e http://mydomain.com/wp/
At first I tried changing this directly through wp-admin: settings>general and deleting the /wp/ at the end. But that didn’t work. So….
I have been trying to change this through phpmyadmin and/or through wp-config.php & functions.php (following the advice given here) but it’s not working.
Whenever I update the domain (site URL & home) to the usual format of http://mydomain.com – I can’t access the site (nor wp-admin) all i get is a page saying index of: cgi-bin and wp/
The only way I can get the site displaying properly is by reverting it back to it’s original designation ending (http://mydomain.com/wp/)
I’m sure this is easily fixed, but I have become a little lost. Any help most appreciated – thank you.

Hello,
This is the support forum for WordPress.com, but it looks like you are working with the self-hosted version, WordPress.org. The place to find help with that is at https://wordpress.org/support/
Cheers and good luck.
