Domain Name/ Sidebar not working

    Hello,

I just paid for my domain name to be a .com which states that it is $19 annually, however, every time I type in trueweirdo.com, like I paid for, it keeps changing to ‘trueweirdo.wordpress.com’?

I’m not sure why this is happening when this website has clearly said it is $19 annually for a .com not for a wordpress.com.

I am also having a very slow response to the sidebar on the top left section on the home page. Every time I click on it, it barely loads. I am not sure what to do about that.

    Thank you!

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

    Hi there!

I just paid for my domain name to be a .com which states that it is $19 annually, however, every time I type in trueweirdo.com, like I paid for, it keeps changing to ‘trueweirdo.wordpress.com’?

You will need a WordPress.com plan to set a custom domain as the primary address of your site. Without a WordPress.com plan, you still own the domain, and it will load your WordPress.com site, but you can’t set it as the primary address.

We can help you choose a plan for your site! Would you like to tell us a bit about the site you’re building? What’s the site for, and what features do you need on your site? This will help us learn more about your site goals and share personalized suggestions with you.

Note that with our yearly plans, you get a free domain for the first year. So if you upgrade to a yearly plan now, we can issue a refund of the $19 you paid for the domain, as you will get it free for the first year.

I am also having a very slow response to the sidebar on the top left section on the home page. Every time I click on it, it barely loads. I am not sure what to do about that.

Are you referring to the overlay menu that’s expanded by clicking on the two horizontal lines at the top left? I checked that out, and I didn’t face any issues or notice anything out of the ordinary.

One thing to note is that you need to wait till the whole page has finished loading. If you click and nothing happens, it means the page is still loading.

To ensure your pages load faster, you may want to consider using optimized images. If you use large images, depending on the internet connection speed, it could take a bit longer for the images to load on visitors’ devices.

    Hope that helps!
