Domain name transfer

  Is it possible to transfer domain names later once I have built a new website on WordPress. Currently, my domain name is tied to a website I have created on my Macbook using Dreamweaver application. I do not want to cut off access to that site until I have built up the website on wordpress

  Hi there,

  That is not an issue – what you could do is create a site with a free WordPress.com blog address. You are assigned a .wordpress.com or a .home.blog subdomain whenever you create a site with WordPress.com, so you can just use that as the domain as you build the site and determine whether or not this is the platform you want to use. Once you are developing the site, you can make the decision to transfer the domain over:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/

  map and existing domain:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

  Or even creating a new one:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/register-domain/
