Domain Name Transfer

  Hi,
  I already have a domain name from Namecheap, can I decide if I want to transfer the domain name later?

  I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  Hi there!

  You can get your site set up here before switching your domain over!

  When you sign up for a new site, we give you a free subdomain (*.wordpress.com) that you can use to start building your new site.

  Note that you will need a paid plan at the time you want to map your domain to the site. You can compare the different plan levels here:

  You can either map your domain or transfer the domain to us – it’s a personal preference type of thing, really.

  Mapping allows you to keep the domain registered with your current domain registrar and direct it to your WordPress.com site: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/

  A transfer would allow to manage both your site and domain from the same place: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/

  So, basically, are you an “all of your eggs in one basket” type of person, or “not all of your eggs in one basket”? :)
