domain name transfer

  I have a domain name that i intitially purchased through wordpress.com. I switched to self hosting this website at bluehost and pointed the name servers to point to bouehost. Now the the domain name is close to expiring, I would like to also transfer it to bluehost as it is cheaper.

  When I went to Domains under the store- edit DNS, it sais “Your nameservers need to be set to NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM for these DNS records to work. If you have already updated the nameservers you can ignore this message; it will stop appearing soon”

  I don’t understand. Doesn’t this mean my website won’t be active during the transfer? And why would I have to point the name servers back to wordpress if I’m transfering the name to bluehost?

  Please notify how I should proceed.

  The domain’s name servers are pointed to your site at Bluehost, but the domain itself isn’t transferred yet.

  This guide explains how to transfer the domain name to another registrar.
