Domain name transfer

Due to a miscommunication about hosting with a colleague, I registered a domain name with Automattic, Inc. instead of a different registrar. I just registered it yesterday and the other company said that the ‘current registrar (Automattic) may allow deleting the domain within 5 days of signup.’ Is this an option? Thank you very much.

Hi there,
I had a look at your account and you cancelled the domain amydunger.com on 26-Jan-2017. The domain costs hadn’t been refunded so I have done that for you. Refunds usually take about a week to process and show up on your statement.

Thanks very much for your help. I’ve been a bit of a spastic disaster with this whole process. I have hosting for the domain on BlueHost, but the domain doesn’t exist because I cancelled it. I checked to see if I could re-register it via BlueHost, but it still says that it’s taken. I can’t imagine it’s a very hot commodity in domain names! Will I be able to re-register it with BH at some point? Is this a “wait a week” or “wait 60 days” kind of situation? Again, apologies on being clueless. Thanks for your assistance.

A domain is normally available to register again after 5 days. You can try to do so, through Bluehost in a couple of days; around the 31st January.
At the moment the domain is showing as taken because it hasn’t been released into the public pool of domains.
