Domain name transfer, but use wordpress site

  • Unknown's avatar

I want to use my own domain name, but have my website from wordpress show up when people go to the domain name. How do I do this? I just ‘mapped’ my domain name to wordpress, as was suggested to me, and that was NOT what I wanted to show up.

    Hi there,

Domain mapping does indeed sound like what you want. If you have a domain with a different registrar, you would need to point your nameservers towards us and you would need to purchase a mapping credit. Once all of this is set up, when someone types in your domain name, the site which you’ve setup here with us will come up.

Is that what you are looking to have happen?

Thanks for the advice. I mapped my original domain name (www.fireiceglass.ca) to wordpress. The subpages show up the way I want them to (from the wordpress site), but the main page is the old one I do not want to show up. I wanted the entire site from wordpress to show up, not just the subpages.

I have gone over to godaddy.com and changed my nameservers as wordpress suggested, and the subpages work fine – it’s just that darn front page that won’t work the way it should…

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,
    Shannon

    Heya,

When I go to your page, this is what I see:

Are you getting the same page? If not, it may be that your browser is storing a cached version of your domain name. You can try pulling your site up using a different browser of clearing your browser’s cache by following the instructions included right here:
