Domain name transfer/mapping

  I have a current website that is need of a major overhaul. Can I start a new website using WordPress, then when it is ready to go public, transfer the current website’s domain name to the new WordPress site without interruption to my website?

  Yes, you can create a WordPress.com site before transferring the domain.

  You can check out the plans and its pricing on the below page and select any plan to get started:
  https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  And whenever you feel that your site ready, you can map or transfer your domain name to your new WordPress.com site.
