Domain Names

I have an existing website and Domain Name (www.boracay.travel). We plan to move everything on the current platform to a WordPress site. I need to do 301 Redirects on existing successful landing pages and redirect them to where they will be on the WordPress site. Can I set up my WordPress site and content first and then add the Domain Name later, when I’m ready to do the redirects?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s good way of doing it.

Set up your WordPress site and contents and when you are ready, redirect the Domain Name to the site.

    Hi boracaypalawanhotels,

I have an existing website and Domain Name (www.boracay.travel). We plan to move everything on the current platform to a WordPress site.

An existing domain can be connected to your WordPress.com site with domain mapping:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Once the domain has been mapped, boracay.travel will be displayed in your browser’s address bar instead of boracaypalawanhotels.wordpress.com.

Domain mapping is a feature of all paid plans — Personal, Premium and Business. Each paid plan includes a free domain credit which you can use to map a domain you already own (or register a new one).

boracay.travel can be mapped whenever you are ready. Although it’s worth noting that your current site will no longer be accessible through that domain afterwards, so that might help you decide when to make the change.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
