  We have a domain name and will transfer it to wordpress. My question is can I purchase other domain names directly from wordpress?

  Yes, you can purchase additional domains from WordPress.com:

  https://wordpress.com/support/domains/register-domain/

  Also, while you can purchase (or transfer) a domain without a plan, to have your domain be your primary domain, you need a paid plan. Otherwise, your domain will redirect to your free *.wordpress.com URL.
