Domain names
-
A couple of weeks ago, I considered adding another blog. The (name).wordpress.com was available. Now, the availability is (name)blog.wordpress.com When I type my original idea into the address bar, I takes me to a wordpress search page, but nothing is there. As if someone put up a page, just to use the name. How can this domain be made available as there is literally a ‘nothing found’ search bar at this address?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

btw….. the blog address wordpress listed is not the domain name I’m inquiring about in this topic.

It’s possible that the domain name you want is either taken or somehow reserved (i.e not available for use). In any case, I don’t think you’ll be able to use it (even if someone else is using the domain name and they delete it right now, the domain name cannot be used again). Your best chance is to think of a different name or consider a custom domain name instead.

weird how that stuff happens in a matter of days or weeks. wordpress should be able to use it again, if it remains a wordpress.com site, I would think?

Hi avantge, if you conciser that WordPress.com has something like 83 million unique visitors per month, it’s not all that unlikely that someone, somewhere out there, had the same idea you had for a site name ;)
Having said this, you will find the following useful:

Thanks…sadly there’s nothing on the current domain to email the owner or leave a comment….there’s literally nothing there.
