  Hi if I cancel my domain name with WordPress will I loose my email address?

  WP.com: Yes
  Correct account: Yes

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi @vintageloveliness, if the email address ends in @yourdomain.com, then yes that would stop working if the domain is cancelled.

  Also, when you cancel a domain, it doesn’t immediately get released for re-purchase. It’s given a few days grace where you can restore it if you change your mind, then it can go through a long redemption process: getting it back from that can be expensive (an extra $80 at first, much more if someone buys it hoping to sell it back to you at a markup). And it’s time consuming, too.

  Hi @vintageloveliness,

  I see that you’ve cancelled your custom domain — if the email address that you’re referring to ends with @gmail.com, then your email address won’t be cancelled as its unrelated to your domain.

  If you used email forwarding with your custom domain (e.g. (email visible only to moderators and staff) → (email visible only to moderators and staff)), you would no longer receive the email forwards to Gmail.

  If you would still like to keep your cancelled domain name, just let me know.
