Domain Nameserver Update Issue
-
Hello all,
I have contacted you guys recently about some domain issues I was having with gpgolfreport.com.
However, I put my HostGator nameservers in (which are correct, confirmed from HostGator) and it still takes me to my old site which is gpgolfreport.wordpress.com instead my WordPress.org site of gpgolfreport.com.
I understand it can take up to 48 hours for the change to occur, but it has been since Wednesday so I’m not sure why it isn’t switching back to my current site?
Thanks again kindly guys, hope to hear from you soon.
Colin

This is tagged for Staff, however, all the whois reports I’ve looked at for your above domain show the DNS pointers as though it was mapped to a WordPressdotcom site
gpgolfreport.com. NS ns2.wordpress.com.
gpgolfreport.com. NS ns1.wordpress.com.
gpgolfreport.com. NS ns3.wordpress.com.;; Query time: 28 msec
;; WHEN: Sat Sep 24 10:32:02 2016Did you follow the instructions for changing your name servers that staff-ozmodiar gave you here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/domain-mapping-warning-2?replies=18#post-2742489

Hi @justjennifer,
Yes, I put the nameservers in for HostGator and gave it a few days and nothing happened. It still takes me to my old site.
So, I’m not sure what’s going on. I deleted them and put the servers back in and still nothing.
There were some different nameservers that HostGator gave me to put so I put those in instead of the ones you mentioned. Still takes me back to my old site.
Thanks Jennifer

I can try to put them in manually for you. What nameservers have you been instructed to use?

Hi staff-ozmodiar,
here’s the nameservers I used: ns8111.hostgator.com and ns8112.hostgator.com.
Thanks again

You can watch the DNS propagation on this site https://www.whatsmydns.net/ just put in your domain name in the A record.
You might be the last to see the change, so make sure to do a complete refresh of your website home page.

Hi staff-ozmodiar,
It still takes me back to my old site. So, I’m not sure what I should do next. Hopefully we can finally get this issue resolved soon.
Thanks again Josh and co.

There, it’s working for me now. If you’d like to redirect the WordPress.com address to your new site at Hostgator, just make your custom domain primary.

Awesome, the site is back up and running. sernovia, rootjosh and everyone else, thank you guys so much for your help!
It has been bothering me that I couldn’t use my site for a while but it is a huge relief that it’s back up, thanks to you guys.
Thanks again!
