domain no longer available

  • Unknown's avatar

Last year with my premium subscription, I also purchased a .com domain, through WordPress. My subscription expired at the end of December (I assume my payment card must have changed, as I had intended to keep the subscription going). I’m planning on upgrading back to my premium subscription, but seem to have lost the domain [my name].com and it is no longer available. It doesn’t look as if it has been purchased by someone else (I don’t expect it would have been, as it’s an uncommon spelling and it’s only been down a month). I don’t really know how it works, but is there a way for me to get this domain back, as my business cards etc all link to this address? Thanks

Perhaps the domain can still be recovered although it may be in the redemption period which means extra charges are incurred. This thread has been tagged for staff assistance. In the meantime see:

Recover an Expired or Cancelled Domain

  • Good Morning –

It looks like andywillson.com is currently in redemption. The good news is that no one else has been able to purchase that domain.

Our domain partner will charge an $80 fee for the redemption process. The total cost of this will be $98. $18 for the annual registration with WordPress.com and $80 redemption fee.

I’ve sent a manual payment your way via email. Write back to us here once you’ve submitted that payment and we will reach out to our domain partner at that time. They typically pass along a status update in just 2-3 days. So it won’t take long. If the domain can be restored then it only takes a few minutes of work from our end at that point.

    Do you have any questions?
