Domain not mapped properly

  • Unknown's avatar

I had the domain name neanderthalsjournal.com and the domain expired over a year ago. When I restarted my blog, I registered the domain name neanderthalsjournal.net because someone had bought up the .com domain. When I try to go to the new URL, I keep getting a message that the neanderthalsjournal.com domain name expired X days ago. I checked the domain mapping status on the support.wordpress.com site and it show that everything is complete. I have cleared my cached files and images.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Thanks,
    Phil

    Hi Phil,
While logged into the account, on the notice that says “Uh oh! Your blog’s domain neanderthalsjournal.com expired”, click the “Cancel this domain” link. If the expiration notice still appears after doing that, close your browser completely, restart it and visit the page that had the notice/banner.

Another option: Log into the WordPress.com account that you used to buy the upgrade. From your Dashboard go to Store > My Upgrades. Next to the domain, click the cog icon, then click the cancel link. Here’s more info about cancelling upgrades: https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades

If neither of those work, add “modlook” to the tags for this forum thread to let WordPress.com staff know that you need assistance with this issue.

    Thanks micawbr.

I don’t have either of the links you mentioned to cancel the old domain name. I have already set the the new domain as primary. I did add the modlook tag to the thread.

    Thanks again.

  • Hi, Phil

It looks like the record for your old domain was still stuck in our system. I have removed that and everything appears to be working now.

Let me know if I can help with anything else.

Thanks so much kokkieh. That has it working now.

  • You’re very welcome :)
