Domain not released
-
You appear to be holding on to my domain, johnnykelleher.com, despite the fact that I cancelled it (it’s not available through other providers but is available through your site). Can you release it please?
Many thanks,
John

It looks like you didn’t renew the domain back in August so it is still in the redemption period. It would have been easier if you had renewed the domain here and then pointed it/transferred it elsewhere if you want to use your domain at another company. As it is you could gamble and keep trying to purchase the domain as it will be released eventually. But there also remains the strong possibility that a domain squatter buys it before you and holds it to ransom.
Perhaps there may be a chance that staff here could recover it for you if you paid the additional redemption fees. Then you could move the domain at your leisure. This thread is tagged for staff assistance.

Hi @cityscapemusic, I can confirm the domain is in redemption. When you cancel a domain we put up a warning and have you confirm your intentions, but in essence the domain goes through a long process before it can be released, much like this process:
This guide explains what happens when a domain expires. Most of the same information also applies when a domain is actively canceled. When Does a Domain Expire? When you register your domain (e.g. yourgroovydomain.com) with WordPress.com, you purchase the right to use that domain for as long as you keep the registration active. Domain registration terms are annual so your domain will nI wish we’d known your intentions so we could retrieve the domain while it was still in its grace period. But right now the registrar is holding it, and they charge an $80 redemption fee in addition to any renewal costs. I’m sending an invoice now since this is all quite time sensitive. Please understand it can be costly if not impossible to get a domain back if someone buys it act auction or aftermarket and manages to snap it up before you, but if you want to wait it out anyway, let us know and we’ll cancel the invoice.
Once the domain is in your possession again (so, not cancelled) you can transfer it to another service as you’d like. If we needed to renew it, you’ll be able to take that extra year to the new service, too.
