Domain not renewed

  I didn’t renew my domain. Is my blog gone? If I pay to renew the actormedic.com site will the blog and its contents still be there?

  Hi there,

  I don’t see any custom domains associated with your account. However, I do see that you deleted your blog – actormedic.wordpress.com – some time ago.

  I’m afraid deleting a blog is permanent and the name cannot be used again. There are several warnings about this on the Tools -> Delete Site page and in the help pages, and you are required to confirm the deletion by email:
  http://support.wordpress.com/settings/delete-blog/

  If you own actormedic.com, it does not appear to have been registered through us. You would need to contact your domain registrar for assistance with renewing your ownership.

  Well I never deleted it.

  I created the blog as written above. Then I registered the domain actormedic.com through another vender so it overwrote this blog to that site.

  I forgot to re register the domain so it is not active.

  So I guess my new question is: since I did not delete actormedic.wordpress.com but did register the new domain and forwarded it to that location, does that mean it is no longer active at all?

  Unfortunately, it looks like http://actormedic.wordpress.com/ was deleted by your user account almost a year ago, 361 days to be exact.

  As mentioned above, deleted blogs cannot be recovered, and the name cannot be used again.

  Ok. Well I’m guessing that when you register the domain name that it records the change in the site as a deletion. Because I did not physically delete the blog. The only change I made was registering the site then changing the forwarding domain of the blog to my new actormedic.com site.

  Nothing like that is automatically done. In fact, the domain is just mapped on top of the blog, like a new change of clothes.

  It sounds like you’re referring to a recent event though, but actormedic.wordpress.com was deleted almost a year ago. Are you sure that you’re referring to the correct blog?

  I know….believe me I did not delete it.

  In fact…I went to the Dreamhost website where I registered it. It said I can renew the site for free so I did. It was automatically relaunched.

  So I think we’ve found a flaw in your system.

  Well, http://actormedic.wordpress.com/ was definitely deleted by your user account almost a whole year. There’s absolutely no connection between this and domain registration or renewal.

  To delete a blog, a user must choose to do so via Tools -> Delete Site and then click through an email confirmation. There’s no other way to do it.

  Duuuuuude.

  I’m telling you I didn’t. Seriously…I’d own up to it if I did it…your system has a flaw in it. But we’re splitting hairs arguing over it.

  My site is back up and that’s all that matters
