domain not showing, adding another blog and user levels

    Hi,

    3 questions:

    1. I purchased my own domain and mapping for $17 but it shows up in the global dashboard as “librariansassociation.wordpress.com.” Why and will this cause problems down the road?

    2. I want to add another blog to my site since I am using the current blog more as a news site and want an actual blog there as well. Can I setup a new blog and link to it from the top of the page menu area? It looks I can if I go into menu setting.

    3. Some parts of my blog/website are supposed to be for members (about 175 people) only; is there a way besides assigning a password to those sections and giving that same password out to all the members to give those individuals access and not others? Maybe assign them editor or some other user status?

Thanks for anything on these topics.

    1. It’s showing up that way because the domain is mapped to your librariansassociation.wordpress.com blog. They two are basically the same.

    2. Yes, you can create an external link from Settings -> Menus in your blog’s Dashboard.

    3. Using a password is about the only thing you could do on this blog. Alternatively, you could set up a third blog, mark it as private, and only allow those individuals access.

Thanks very much for the quick response! Creating the third blog with the password would probably not do it cause I need more than 35 folks to have access. I guess I’d have to buy the private access for over 35.

    Thanks again.

    You’re welcome!

Yes, the need for an upgrade would be a negative factor to that alternative.
