re: mapping an existing domain
WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible.Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made, it and the domain mapping purchase here, each and every year.
Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually and a domain name purchase and domain mapping are included in the Premium upgrade bundle.
In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com sub-domain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL.
If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the WordPress.COM blog, and as you own a domain URL already, you can see here for mapping an existing domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
It can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. It’s not unusual for your own ISP to be the last to flush their DNS caches. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

Nameservers Validated!
Congratulations! The nameservers appear to be set up correctly for millennialblurb.com.Oops, No Primary Site Set
There is no primary domain set for millennialblurbdotcom.wordpress.com. This means that although millennialblurb.com will forward to the site, millennialblurb.com will appear in the browser address bar. To learn more about setting a primary domain, please see our documentation.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/#setting-the-primary-domainAs I said above it can take as long as 72 hours for DNS changes to become widely available. If you’re still not seeing your site loading at millennialblurb.com, please wait a few more hours, clear your browser cache, http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies and try again.

You are not comprehending how domain mapping works. You have to have an underlying .wordpress.COM URL such as http://millennialblurbcom.wordpress.com/ in order to map from it to the domain URL millennialblurb.com
Make sure you set the primary domain correctly please

Hi, timethief,
Thanks for taking the time to help me out :-) I guess I should have made it clear I don’t wish to keep the other two names/domains I have. I only want to keep millennialblurb.com and only want that to show up with my wordpress account… is this possible.
You’re right I’m not 100% clear about how domain mapping works, but I do think I get the gist of what you’re saying.
Here’s my understanding:
I have to have a .wordpress.com to map another existing domain too but they don’t have to match 100%… am I right? If so, can I just have millennialblurb.wordpress.com show on my account and then map millennialblurb.com to millennialblurb.wordpress.com and get rid of all the other “crap”?
Thanks for your help!

Thank you.
I will look into this.
Is is appropriate to assume that all of the resources you provided above will help me do this, or is there another place I need to look to get rid of the unwanted domains, etc?
Thanks again!

milliennialblurbcom I thought there was another but I don’t see it.
So, all I want is millennialblurb.com and millennialblurb.wordpress.com.
Thanks so much!

So, here is the situation. You have two WordPress.com sites:
https://millennialblurb.wordpress.com/ and https://millennialblurbcom.wordpress.com/
https://millennialblurbcom.wordpress.com/ looks like an extra site that you don’t need. It is also the site that http://millennialblurb.com is mapped to. I suspect you want http://millennialblurb.com mapped to https://millennialblurb.wordpress.com/ and want to get rid of https://millennialblurbcom.wordpress.com/.
However, there is another issue. The user account you are posting from is not the owner of the http://millennialblurb.com Domain Mapping upgrade. You probably have a second WordPress.com account somehow and logged in with it to purchase the upgrade. I cannot move it to point to https://millennialblurb.wordpress.com/ without permission of the upgrade owner.
Do you have login info for your other account?
