Domain not working

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a domain through wordpress (liberatedtraveler.com), and it is no longer working. This is the message I get ‘You can’t get there from here (site_id mismatch error).

This happens when an external blog (a self-hosted blog using the Jetpack plugin) is pointed to WordPress.com by DNS.

If you are trying to migrate away from WordPress.com, please update your DNS to point the domain to your own server.

Otherwise please contact WordPress.com support and explain what you were trying to do, what steps you took, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened.’ I haven’t changed anything, so I’m not sure why this is happening.

  • Hi there,

The domain, liberatedtraveler.com, is neither registered nor hosted with us.

That domain is currently registered at GoDaddy.com, and while its name servers are pointed to us, there is no domain mapping upgrade on this end that connects the domain here. I can see you used to have it connected to liberatedtraveler.wordpress.com, but you cancelled the premium plan on that site in May last year, and the domain mapping upgrade that was still present recently expired and was removed

If you want to use that domain with your WordPress.com site again, you will need to add a new paid plan and domain mapping upgrade to that site:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

If instead you want to use that domain with a WordPress site hosted somewhere else, you’ll need to change the domain’s name servers to point to your correct hosting provider. This change needs to be done at GoDaddy in that case.
