Hi there!
I see that you already added a domain connection for hicksmotandservicecentre.co.uk. If this is the correct domain you wish to use with your WordPress.com site, you have two more steps remaining:
- Point the domain to WordPress.com.
- Set it as the primary address.
You can point the domain to WordPress.com in one of two ways:
a. Use the WordPress.com nameservers.
The WordPress.com nameservers are:
ns1.wordpress.com
ns2.wordpress.com
ns3.wordpress.comYou can contact your domain registrar and ask them to do this for you or you can do it yourself from the domain registrar’s website. The domain registrar is the company where you registered the domain.
It may take up to 72 hours for the nameserver change to take effect after they have been updated.
Please note: If you have active email services connected to the domain, you’ll need to add the email service’s DNS records on our end before you change the domain’s nameservers. Please let us know if you have email services connected to hicksmotandservicecentre.co.uk.
b. Use WordPress.com IPs
If you’d like to point your domain to WordPress.com using our IP addresses, please follow these steps.
Within 72 hours of pointing the domain to WordPress.com nameservers, you can set your domain as the primary address of your site by following these steps:
Your primary site address is the domain that people will see in their browser’s address bar when visiting your site. It is the address you use to promote your website. Requirements To use a domain as your site’s primary address, you will need: A domain registered or connected to WordPress.com. Any paid WordPress.com plan. With a paid WordPress.com plan, you can set a custom doHope that helps! Feel free to let us know if you have more questions.

so If I do option A does this mean I can keep the hosting with the external company and the website will appear as
http://hicksmotandservicecentre.co.uk rather than http://hicksmotandservicecentre.wpcomstaging.com/

I want to make sure we’re both on the same page here: You’re currently using the public support forums for websites hosted on WordPress.com. Your site isn’t hosted by an external company; it’s right here with us at WordPress.com.
As for your query, you just need to update your domain nameservers and then designate that domain as the primary one to replace the hicksmotandservicecentre.wpcomstaging.com URL.
I hope this explanation helps clarify things! If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We’re here to help!
