Domain Only Masking Home Page

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, On my blog puertovallartadestinationweddings.com, only the home page shows up published as it should…..puertovallartadestinationweddings.com. All of my other pages read as:

    http://69.195.124.70/~puertov6/?page_id=44

Rather than puertovallartadestinationweddings.com/hair+make_up.php (or whatever…just example)

I’ve set my permalink to display post name but the domain (outside homepage) still shows up as #s only.

http://puertovallartadestinationweddings.com/ is a WordPress.ORG blog, not a WordPress.COM blog, so we are going to have to point you over there for assistance with that version of the software.

I tried getting help over there. There’s no one to contact. I would like to speak to a human as nothing I found in their forums was helpful.

WordPress.ORG is the proper place, they don’t have phone support (remember you got the software for FREE) – there should be a section over there (code Poet) that you can hire someone to help. There are many people that you can hire to help you.

Any idea when my refund from switching to the .org will be processed. It’s already been like 5-6 days. I know it’s the holidays but seriously how long can it take. I have 2 charges from wp for $99…..only should be one (they are showing as pending)…..and no refund.

my refund from switching to the .org

I do not see any current transactions under the WordPress.com account djstaci. Did you purchase an upgrade under a different account?

For additional assistance with your self-hosted blog, you can post on the WordPress.org forums:

It was purchased under the name “April Amethyst” (aprilamethyst.com).

Thanks for clarifying this for Staff. This must be the username account then https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/aprilamethyst
And this must be the blog registered under it http://aprilamethyst.com/

    I’m so confused.

The blog with the issue is puertovallartadestinationweddings.com

Yesterday the homepage read correctly. Today when I type in that URL in google, I actually see puertovallartadestinationweddings.wordpress.com. I am not completely unable to log in or even view the blog I want to work on–which apparently is called 69.195.124.70/~puertov6/ (even though it properly forwarded to pvdestwed.com yesterday!?

I want the material currently located at puertovallartadestinationweddings.wordpress.com to be gone and to be replaced by the material located at 69.195.124.70/~puertov6/ (which was switched on BlueHost like over a week ago to point to puertovallartadestinationweddings.com).

Yesterday was the only day it partially worked. Now it’s not working at all.

I was told I need to be seeking help from wordpress.org but I don’t see anything there to help nor do I see where I can post to the support forum. HELP!!!!

I only switched to .org because I need plugins–I don’t care that it’s “free.” I need customer service!!!!!! So extremely confused. Nothing I read on .org speaks to my situation or is helpful.

Should I be talking to BlueHost?

How can the material currently located at puertovallartadestinationweddings.wordpress.com be deleted?

  • Unknown's avatar

If you want customer service, you made the wrong choice in switching to .org, as you can see. Typically a WP.org consultant will charge $65 an hour and up. You can try talking to Bluehost, but most likely you need the help that the .org forums can give.

A different WordPress.com user (aprilamethyst) registered the domain puertovallartadestinationweddings.com for the site at puertovallartadestinationweddings.wordpress.com, but the hosting is now with Bluehost, and the domain is pointing to the Bluehost site.

The same WordPress.com user has a couple of other blogs, and one of them (but not the one listed above) does have the premium upgrade. It too has a domain registered.

If you log in under the other user account and confirm you own that account, I can assist you with canceling your premium purchase, minus the domain registration fees, which cannot be refunded after 48 hours.

However, I would not recommend canceling your domains as you will not have access to them again for a while, and in fact might lose them altogether.

As for your permalink address, that’s a question for Bluehost.

    I am “April Amethyst.”

I was told I was already receiving a refund within that 48 hour period. Now you’re telling me otherwise. More than 48 hours has passed and nobody told me I needed to do anything but request the refund which I (April Amethyst) already did.

How can I NOT be the administrator of puertovallartadestinationweddings.com (as April Amethyst) if I see it on my dashboard and there are no other users for the acct?

The only reason I created this acct was in error (djstaci)….apparently.

Remain TERRIBLY confused. Is there a customer svc # I can call please?

  • Unknown's avatar

My previous replies in this thread say April Amethyst–is that not sufficient proof.

I can just dispute the charge via my bank if you prefer. I was told the refund would take up to 5-7 days and that time period has already passed.

Which other acct is premium? SB DJ? I will have to move all of them to .org as plugins are not optional for me.

You have two accounts. The account that owns these upgrades is aprilamethyst, from which you are now contacting us. The account djstaci is not connected to these upgrades and you would not see them from that account’s Dashboard.

While logged in as aprilamethyst, you can see all of your upgrades here:
    https://aprilamethyst.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades

You first requested assistance with this refund on 12/30, but registered two domains on 12/24. Normally we do not give out refunds on domains after 48 hours.

I see that you have two recently registered domains:
    sanbernardinoweddingdj.com
    puertovallartadestinationweddings.com

You have a premium upgrade connected to sanbernardinoweddingdj.com as well.

Despite it being more than 48 hours, I would be happy to cancel both of these domains and refund you your full purchase price. Note that if I do so, as cancelled domains, they may not be available to register again. If you wish to use them on a self-hosted site other than WordPress.com, you don’t need to cancel them, but you can instead point the name servers to your new hosting provider.

    Change a Domain’s Name Servers

If you prefer, I can refund the premium bundle minus the cost of the domain sanbernardinoweddingdj.com so that you can use the domain but can get a refund for the options that are not of use to you.

So your options, in a nutshell, are:
    1) Keep things the way they are and use WordPress.com as your hosting provider, and build the sites here;
    2) Keep the domains registered with us, but use them for a .org installation hosted elsewhere (and receive a refund for the difference);
    3) Cancel the domains (understanding that you may lose them) and get a full refund for everything.

Please let me know how you wish to proceed.
