Domain ownership and charges

So, I already own a domain, and it is in my ownership permanently due to my country’s laws, meaning, I pay no fees whatsoever, and cannot be legally charged in any way for that domain, and it is in shared ownership between myself and the Croatian national registrar agency, CARNET. With that in mind, can I move this domain to WordPress, and if so, how will I be charged, and how do I explain this to the authorities (since it is specified within the legislation regarding personal domains that I can in no way be charged for this domain, regardless the reason)? Also, to further explain, it is legally and constitutionally each Croat national’s right to own a single domain with the ‘.hr’ extension, and explaining how I am being charged for something that is by law and Constitution my right is what is bugging me. Therefore, to paraphrase the last bit of my question: what do I put in my annual tax report? Because if I don’t put anything, I can be charged with evading taxes and whatnot.

  • Hi there,

We do not support the transfer of .hr domains, so you would need to leave it with your current holding company (registrar) and will not be able to transfer it to WordPress.com. However, in cases where your domain cannot be transferred, our plans also include free ‘domain mapping’ which you can use to connect your .hr domain to a site here, so that it has your custom .hr web address.
