Domain ownership and Google Friend Connect
-
I bought my domain name. Is this considered a self-hosted version of WordPress and if so, why am I unable to move my Google Friend Connect over?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When you purchased a domain name and domain mapping that’s what you got and nothing more. The support documentation is crystal clear about this:
Important Notes Before Upgrading
Same Rules Apply – The Domain Mapping Upgrade does not enable the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes or plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and you will still be required to abide by our Terms of Service. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/#important-notes-before-upgradingGoogle Friend Connect is a JavaScript widget ie. a progibited code, and there is no upgrade you can purchase that will enable the use of JavaScript widgets on free hosted WordPress.com blogs.
You can move your content into a WordPress.org install. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

That was quick, thank you!
I see what you’re saying. Blogger was giving me a lot of problems, hence the switch. I have the Networked Blog thing and will posting the Facebook badge but will WordPress ever have something similar to GFC? -
You can use Networked blogs here. You can also post a Facebook badge. I have no idea what new feature or function WordPress.com Staff may surprise us with next but there has been no statement to the effect of creating a Google Friend Connect type of widget for WordPress.com blogs.
We do not have a followers widget for WordPress.com blogs. We can subscribe to WordPress.com blogs and you can enable blog subscriptions for your readers by following these instructions > http://en.support.wordpress.com/blog-subscriptions/
see also > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/blog-subscription-widget/You can post a Facebook badge in your sidebar. http://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-badge/
You can use the Facebook like box widget found here > Appearance > Widgets
You can also enable sharing buttons on your posts, pages and index pages.
Also note the “like” button.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/You can use a Twitter widget > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/twitter-widget/
You can post a twitter follow button > http://en.support.wordpress.com/twitter-follow-button/
You can set up Publicize and publish to your Facebook profile page > http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/
Alternatively you can use Networked Blogs http://www.networkedblogs.com/ or RSS Grafitti http://www.facebook.com/RSS.Graffiti for posting to Facebook walls if you prefer.
RSS Graffiti periodically checks the RSS/Atom feeds that you specify and posts any new entries it finds to the Facebook Walls that you specify.
You can get any feed written on any wall (Facebook Profiles, Fan Pages, Groups, Events and Application Profile Pages). In fact, multiple feeds to multiple walls. You choose the combination.
