Domain parked

    Hi. I tried to cancel the domain as I can get it for free with the web host company (Hostinger) but I keep seeing a message saying domain/website is parked?

    On Hostinger it says that the domain is taken – it is, by me! But when I go to the website it says it is parked – please help!

    Hi there!

    It looks like you canceled the domain. A domain canceled shortly after its registration can take about a week to be available for registration again. You can also pay us to restore the domain and then point it to another host if you wish.

    However, I wanted to clarify that the domain registration was free with your WordPress.com Starter plan, too. I assume you paid for a hosting plan with Hostinger and have the offer to register the domain for free, correct?

    You had the same offer on WordPress.com. If you look at your receipt, the domain registration was free with the yearly WordPress.com Starter plan (which is basically a hosting plan). We include the first year’s domain registration fee at no extra cost with all the WordPress.com plans.

    Please let me know if you’d like us to restore the domain. You can also upgrade to a WordPress.com plan again, and we can use the free domain credit to restore the domain for you. Or we can send you a payment link to pay for the domain registration fee.

    Hi Aisajib

    Thank you for replying. You are correct – I contracted Hostinger for the hosting and this included the first year’s domain registration. The reason I switched the hosting from WP to Hostinger was that I didn’t seem to get free access to Elementor and the Astra template.

    As I have already started to create the website, I would like to keep the hosting with Hostinger and so it makes sense to register the domain with them. Is there any way to manually release the domain for re-registration?

    Your domain is currently parked with us. To use your domain with Hostinger, the first step we need to take is restoring it to your WordPress.com account.

    To start this process, I’ve emailed you a payment form that covers the cost of the domain. Once you have completed the payment, reply here to let us know, and we’ll proceed with the recovery process.

    Hi. Thank you getting back to me. I am a little confused – if the free domain came as part of the Starter package with WP, and this package has been cancelled and refunded, why is the domain not released and available to purchase elsewhere?

    When you sign up for a yearly paid plan, you get a free domain for the first year. But remember, even though it’s free, the domain is still considered a separate purchase. If you decide to cancel your yearly plan but want to keep the free domain, you’ll have to pay for its registration separately. If you cancel within the first 96 hours, the domain will become available for others to buy after about 5 days.

    However, if you have a .co.uk domain, the rules are different. There’s no refund option, and if you cancel it, the domain will be parked until it naturally expires in a year.

    Since you didn’t pay for the separate registration, to regain control of your domain, you’ll need to settle the invoice we sent you. Once you’ve paid, we’ll restore the domain, and you can update its nameservers to use with your chosen hosting provider. After 60 days, you can transfer the domain to a different registrar.

    Just inform us when you’ve paid the invoice. We won’t restore the domain until you give us the go-ahead.

    Hi

    I don’t think it is working as it should – when I log in to Hostinger and then go to WordPress Admin, it takes me to the back end of the website (www.tulamedical.co.uk). However when I click on ‘Visit Site’ (top left-hand corner, next to the ‘W’), it takes me to https://tulamedical.wordpress.com/?

    I have been making changes to the back end – adding pages etc, but I don’t see changes?
